AAPL’s Q4 ‘08
Highlights:
- 13M iPhones sold to date (over the past 1.5 yrs), and 7M of those were sold in the last 3 mos.
- Sold more phones than RIM/Blackberry, who’ve been in the phone business for 8 yrs.
- Measured by revenue, Apple is the world’s 3rd largest mobile phone supplier. Nokia and Samsung are #1 and #2. Apple at #3. Sony Erickson at #4.
- App Store: 100 days old, 200M apps downloaded
- Macs: 21% unit growth. In US, $1 out of every $3 in computers is spent on Mac.
- iPod market hasn’t flatlined yet (11% unit growth, 3% revenue)
- $25B cash in the bank with zero debt. Incidentally, that’s Dell’s market cap…so on paper, AAPL could buy DELL and pay in cash. Ponder that.
- Steve on the economy: Apple customers are loyal and while they may delay purchases, they won’t switch.
living room 2.0
we completely rearranged the furniture in our apartment a few weeks back, and it’s so much nicer now. here’s a shot of the new living room (click on it for full size):
took the pic with my new fav iphone app, the $3 pano. it stiches 4 photos together, and even gives you a little overlay visual of the previous photo so you can line things up correctly.
new notebooks
the news in a nutshell:
- the macbook has gone aluminum & glass, and looks like a smaller macbook pro.
- all notebooks are built using a new manufacturing process that carves them out of a single block of aluminum. (making of video)
- a new 24″ monitor ‘accessory’ for the macbook.
