first family vacation in Yosemite

family,personal | Saturday, August 29th, 2009

after a week in Tahoe for the Lee Family Reunion, we headed off on our own to our first annual family vacation in Yosemite. it was about a 4 hour drive from Tahoe, and we stayed in the Curry Village tent cabins ($110/night). we weren’t exactly “roughing it”: there was restaurant food and showers and bathrooms – all very family friendly. and you can’t beat waking up right in the middle of Yosemite Valley.

the first thing we did was the Valley Floor Tour, a 2hr guided tram ride that gave us a historical overview and some great scenic shots. then we took a drive down to Mariposa Grove (about an hour away from the valley) and saw the amazing ancient sequoias. next day we hung around the beaches & meadows of Sentinel Beach and Swinging Bridge. at night we went on the guided Starry Night tour, where a guide points out the constellations while you lay on a meadow staring up at the night sky.

all in all, we love Yosemite and hope to make it a regular family vacation!

Here’s Who’s Eating iTunes’ Dust

itunes | Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Recent stats show that 25% of music is downloaded (75% still consumed by CD!).

Here’s a nice graphic showing how that 25% is broken down:
