Nanuet Mall: RIP
wow. “the mall” is no more. growing up, it was *the* weekend ritual. it started with shopping trips with my family (always ending with a stop at McDonald’s on the way home), and transitioned into far-too-frequent visits with the boyz. it was our de facto destination, as we hopped in our cars and escaped our families as teens. i literally fantasized about getting a summer job there, but alas, that career goal was never realized.
things i’ll miss:
- Aladdin’s Castle: the arcade at the end of the wing. The ultimate meet-up spot.
- Bamburgers: best name ever.
- Spencer’s Gifts: one of the original locations
- “The Movies”: the ‘giant’ 5-plex that opened up across the street. The ultimate cruising location. Shared my first j with Greg & Paul behind the theater.
- Jean Country: the store of fashion nightmares where Rob worked (after his stint at Shake Shack).
