maui vacation
we got back on Wed from a week in maui. it was a blast, but the end was a real drag. on the second to last day, Amo got sick and puked her brains out, then on the last day I got sick with some crazy flu thing. I was fine in the morning, and by noon I couldn’t even stand up. we slept all day, and then had to travel the red-eye flight back to LAX, and then to SF. when we got home I promptly fell into bed and slept all day again. luckily I recovered just enough to make it into work on Thurs. it was a 48 hour bug that had very distinct phases: total fatigue, then stomache aches, then diarrhea. and then it was gone.
anyways, everything up until the sickness was great. well, sorta. we arrived in maui the night after what all the locals called “the worst storm they’ve ever seen.” roads were flooded, debris was everywhere, the ocean was brown. and it rained for pretty much the first 2 days. then it cleared up and we got a few good days of sunshine.
we had a big ol’ group and did so many things it’s too much to write…beaches, blowhole, cooking, thriller dancing. the group was:

- debbie (my cuz) and her husband kevin and son ronan
- kat (amo’s cuz), jeff her husband and son owen
- alison (amo’s cuz) and her bf michael
- jonah (amo’s bro)
