Amo had to be out of town for a family emergency (on her mom’s side), so this year I spent Thanksgiving with the Lee’s without her. they’ve been welcoming from the start, and it was a really nice time!

so things are pretty chill from now until the end of the year. i’ve got this week off, then in we’re off to maui 2 wks later, and then i’m off again the week of christmas. the thanksgiving & christmas breaks are technically only supposed to be 2 days off each, but the benevolent mr. jobs has given everyone the full week off for the past 2 years. which is nice because i, for one, busted my ass the whole year (and even passed on burning man because of a project). i’m ready to jump back in full gear in ‘08, but a nice 6 week cool down is very welcome.

so what big plans do i have for the week? n-o-t-h-i-n-g. it’s a beautiful thing. actually, i’ve been needing to get off my butt more and just discovered some great, reasonably priced activities:

• Valencia Street Muscle & Fitness: an old school locally owned, neighborhood gym. straight out of the 80’s. we’re talking the ‘original’ lifecycles and treadmills. the Apple gym is great when i have a break at work, but for some reason i can’t really get into working out there.
• Yoga Tree SF: supposedly a great place to practice (not that i have, at all), and it’s like 2 blocks away. i’m taking a vinyasa class in 30 mins.
• Dance Mission: according to yelp, this is a great place for dance lessons of all kinds. i’m tasked with learning to salsa before our wedding, so this is the place.

most importantly, they’re all available at night so i can still attend during the weekdays.

as much as Macs rule the planet for most things, the one area they lag is in gaming. casual gaming is fine, but the hardcore games don’t run well at all. so i got my nerd fix from a 19yo kid on CL who built this monster pc, but then realized he needed spend more time studying…so i hooked him up with a macbook and we did an even trade.
