today was all about the ipods. in a nutshell:

  • ipod shuffles: new colors. blah. but only $79
  • ipod nano: dubbed the ‘fatty’, it now plays video and has coverflow. at $149/199, these will sell gazillions.
  • ipod classic: the big hard drive ipods for people who store their entire libraries on the ipod (up to 160gb!); also get the new interface
  • ipod touch: the iphone without the phone and email.

my project was the iTunes Wifi Music Store. using the iPhone or iPod touch over a wifi connection, you’ll be able to browse all the music in the iTunes Store and buy songs right from the device. and there’s free 30 second previews for every song. and the kicker…free wifi access for iTunes from Starbucks (though the rollout will take a while).

so, imagine NYC where there’s a Starbucks every few blocks. that’s your new record store. drop in, have a latte, and explore samples of new music, buying only the tracks you want.
