the perfect server side rss aggregator

technology | Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

none of the public sites are quite working for me…i’m spread out across netvibes and bloglines, nothing quite in sync. so today i’ve been looking for a server side aggregator that i can install here on dreamhost. i’m on a kick installing apps here – there are so many great free projects going on out there. the search brought me from feeds on feeds to tiny tiny rss to what i think is the perfect answer, gregarius. the feeds are readable by anyone (mine are here) – but only i can manipulate them (mark as read, flag for later, delete, etc) after logging in.

Gregarius is a web-based RSS/RDF/ATOM feed aggregator, designed to run on your web server, allowing you to access your news sources from wherever you want.
  • Completely web-based (runs on your web server)
  • Simple, password-protected, administration and configuration
  • AJAX powered item tagging
  • Full-text search
  • Committed to web standards: renders XHTML/CSS, supports OPML
  • Gregarius is FREE software and is released under the GPL
