digg v3 launched this week. they expanded beyond just tech news into more traditional media categories. the site is a total disruption of the way news is delivered. no reporters, no editors. just users submitting stories found elsewhere, and users deciding which stories are important - thus promoting the stories to the frontpage. sites linked on the frontpage often experience “the digg effect”: so much traffic comes to them from digg that their servers crash (often they are personal blogs or small sites that weren’t expecting so many visitors).
it was founded by kevin rose, the hacker kid from techtv’s ‘the screensavers’. in the year or so since it launched, it’s already eclipsed the old-school nerd news site, slashdot…in fact digg was founded on the idea that slashdot received so many great stories that never made it in, due to the editorial process.
today i gave my boss advance notice that i’ll be leaving. he took it well - there’s not much to argue about when your reason for leaving is that you’re moving across the country.
the move is starting to happen, the gold spike is in the ground. amo bought her 1-way ticket, and we’ve found a great couple to rent the apartment. next up: secure a job, schedule the movers, pack up…
and then, like the end of the week at burning man, we’ll pull up our spikes in NYC, take apart our beautiful home, and move on…

amo & all her friends are raving about how great it is to cleanse your poop chute, so i’m giving it a shot. i’ve been feeling a little “off” lately, maybe this will do the trick. i hope to have some colorful stories for you soon!
i’m also starting to get back into the cardio thing, albeit slowly (as it always is, getting back into it…). hopefully the combo will do me good.

beautiful.
…all set and migrated to dreamhost. the site feels much zippier. i likes it!
gallery is installed for user photo albums. it does a lot more than flickr, and i think it’s easier to use. it ran like a dog on powweb, but goes fast here on dreamhost:

i also installed mediawiki, the same wiki software that runs wikipedia. not exactly sure how i’ll use it, but it might come in handy.

if anyone needs a blog or photo albums, let me know…lots of room here.
