i was out in SF last weekend to spend christmas with Amo’s family;
the roundtrip airfare was free from Song airlines, after cashing in my Delta Skymiles. after about 15 years with an Amex Delta Skymiles card, i had *just* enough miles for this trip. i cashed in the miles and promptly cancelled the card. =)
got into SFO on Thurs night, and Hertz upgraded my compact car reservation and gave me a convertible Ford Mustang! the new retro-looking model. too bad it was a puke green color.
went straight to Dr Jon’s, who was out of town, but nice enough to let me stay. it was nice to clean up and rest in a huge SOMA loft.
next morning i had breakfast at the BrainWash (breakfast sandwich, of course), then met Amo & family at the de Young art museum in golden gate park. it reopened last Oct after being damaged by an earthquake. lots of really cool stuff in there.
dinner for the next 3 nights would be at the John Lee’s. SO much good food…Fri night was indian food by Hanni, Sat was prime rib by Heather, and Sun was the big Xmas feast/party.
daytime was spent lounging around Alan’s house, hanging with the girls (who are so cute), going to Target, watching movies, going bowling. life in suburbia is fun!
it’s finally become law that you can get your credit reports from all 3 credit services for free (once a year). i just used the site below and it does a good job of guiding you through to get all your reports (make sure to decline all the additional services that cost money). worth a check, at least every year.

from slashdot:
“Computerworld is running a 3 page story on what tech skills will be in demand for the coming year. They suggest developers, security experts and project managers are in demand. It also comes up with some good news. FTA: ‘Despite the notion that hordes of U.S. IT jobs are being sent offshore, in reality, less than 5% of the 10 million people who make up the U.S. IT job market had been displaced by foreign workers through 2004, says Scot Melland, president and CEO of Dice Inc., a New York-based online jobs service. The numbers of jobs posted on Dice.com from January through September for developers, project managers and help desk technicians rose 40%, 47% and 45%, respectively, compared with the same period in 2004, says Melland.’”
Subway stopped
we’re on day 3 of the MTA transit strike. fuckers. i walked to work, which wasn’t *too* bad (about 30 mins), but no fun, either. i’m glad to get outta town this weekend - to SF to be with Amo’s family for xmas. i’m pretty sure it’ll be over with by then.
