i am not going to get the xbox360. i am not going to get the xbox360. at least not at launch. maybe after they hack it and port Xbox Media Center to it. it goes on sale Tues, Nov. 22 (the dorks line up on Mon night).
i had my original xbox for like a year and was on the verge of selling it before i got it modded and discovered XBMC. after that, i used it all the time. i just gave it to my bro though, since i replaced it with the shuttle pc.
i am not going to get the xbox360.
today in the news, yet another thing that will kill you:
Drinking decaffeinated coffee may be harmful to heart health (from the American Heart Association)
“There is a real difference between caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee and, contrary to what people have thought for many years, I believe it’s not caffeinated but decaffeinated coffee that might promote heart disease risk factors that are associated with the metabolic syndrome, an expanding heart-health hazard in the United States.”

this goes in the category of ‘good problems to have’: i have too much time off. i’ve got 11 vacation days left, plus 3 floating holidays. add in the 5 days off for holidays from Thanksgiving to MLK day (on Jan 16), and that’s 19 days off. just about 4 work weeks off over the next 8 weeks.
unfortunately, there’s also a butt-load of work to finish in ‘05, thanks to these ‘revenue milestones’ we’re now lucky enough to deal with as part of a huge corporation. basically, we have to do tons of work that normally wouldn’t be completed until the next year so that we can meet our revenue targets for ‘05.
power mac g5
i finally broke down and got a power mac. yeah, the mac mini was the gateway drug that got me interested in more. it just wasn’t quick enough to do anything more than the smallest of projects in ilife or video editing. so here i am with a 2.0ghz dual processor power mac. here’s how it came to be:
first, i got a sweetheart of a deal (on CL, of course) on a much more powerful power mac. it was more horsepower than i needed, so i thought i’d see if i could make some dough on it. lo’ & behold, i sold it 2 days later for $500 profit.
then i cruised CL for another few days, and seemed to find another good deal. went to meet the guy to see the system, and he walks up to me on the street dragging along a nappy G5 box and says he doesn’t have anywhere for me to plug it in. see ya.
finally, i found another CL guy with a good deal (not great, but good) on the system i have now. he even delivered it. so now i’m happy.
but i wouldn’t say i’m completely sold on mac yet. while i do feel better about using it over windows *most* of the time, there are a number of annoyances that i’ll blog about soon.
whoa…i didn’t have any interest at all in the remake of King Kong by Peter Jackson (who did Lord of the Rings), but the trailer looks awesome:
