well, it was a fun experiment while it lasted. the straight dope - an experiment in anonymous group blogging. say what you really wanna say about sex, love and relationships. about 20 anonymous bloggers signed up (friends and friends of friends, but i never knew which screennames belonged to who). some interesting revelations, but in the end, not quite enough participation to remain self-sufficient.
because of it’s historic relevance, i wanted to make sure the full discussion was archived. here is a PDF version of all the entries.
hey, you might notice a new look to the site. i just migrated it all from movable type 2.661 (which was free, but newer versions cost $$) to nucleus cms 3.2, a different blogging platform. the move was pretty easy, thanks to this guy’s Movable Type to Nucleus conversion tool. and hey, comments should be working now. i really hope the comment spamming doesn’t start though…
haven’t written in a while…things have been busy. at work i’ve finished delivering 2 projects in the past 2 weeks (both of which we’ve been working on all year long). they went well - things are pretty much on-time, happy clients. i also went to 2 weddings in the past 2 wks. first was Art’s wedding in Philly. it was nice to see & catch up with some of the Reunion kids & parents. this past weekend it was my cousin Jeffrey in San Jose, my old stomping grounds. again, nice to see and catch up with the relatives.
that’s about it as far as travel plans go. i hope to stay put until the big BM.
so when johnny carson died recently, everyone had nothing but good things to say about the guy. of course, howard was one of the few voices saying what a dick he was (i think a few other people wrote books about him). jay leno paid a shallow tribute to carson, despite the fact that they hated each other (carson didn’t say a word about leno on his last show, and leno didn’t say anything about carson on his first show).
howard interviewed paul anka today. when anka was a young guy, starting out in the business, he was asked to write the tonight show theme. carson’s people liked it, but insisted on publishing rights to it. that was the only way they’d use it. so he gave it up, and we all know how popular it is now. it makes about $800k/yr in royalties. now, you’d think after carson got his riches, he might say enough is enough, and give the rights back to anka. but nope, he never did, and to this day all the money goes to the carson estate. what a dick.
*b* stands for *baby* and *boy*. congrats!
*c* has been known to keep a secret blog or two.
