rob was a contestant on ‘who wants to be a millionaire’ today, so i spent the day at home near the phone as one of his lifelines. alas, the call never came…but i was all ready to google-search a question.
i read that monster.com had 1 million IT job listings in its heyday…now there’s 25,000. that’s 2.5% of what it used to be. ack. good thing i’m in no hurry. ah, technology will come back strong, and one day we’ll all look back on this and laugh. ha. oh yeah, and it won’t be long before all those baby-boomers start droppin like flies, too. then there’s gonna be jobs galore!
image editing fun with my sony clie nx70v:

from the howard stern show:
rotate your right foot in circles clockwise
with your right hand, draw the number ‘6′ in the air
your foot will change directions! see how stupid you are?
more from howard - a quote from gray davis: "my vision is to make the most diverse state on earth, that we have people from every planet on the earth in this state". dumbass.
i shot some hoop in a park today, first time in a long time. played a game of 21 with two eighth graders. it was fun. of course, i had to put them DOWN. heh…
i just had a brain freeze and spent about five minutes trying to figure out if it’s spelled ‘eigth’ or ‘eighth’. i’m a dumbass, too.
nerd tip of the day - disposable email addresses
tired of signing up for accounts on websites that you KNOW are gonna send spam to your email address? maybe ya just want an account to do one thing, but they insist on validating your email address before activating the account.
mailinator is a service some dude created and is running for free. just make up any email address like xxx@mailinator.com and go to www.mailinator.com to check it. there is NO password - all emails to that address are viewable to the public (but it’s not like anyone will guess your ‘xxx’ username). emails are stored a few hours, then automatically deleted. perfect for receiving that ‘confirmation email’ just long enough to activate your account.
i need help. i can’t stop watching celebrities uncensored. i don’t actually seek out the show, but it’s *always* on E! and once i see it’s on, i can’t turn it off, as much as i want to…it’s so pathetic, watching these inane paparazzi clips of celebs stumbling drunk out of clubs and trying to get into their cars without being seen. but i love it.
i’ve been able to keep my gadget lust in check for a few months, but lately i’ve been getting weak. i had my eye on the sony clie nx70v, which sells for $400 at circuit city but can be had for about $250 on ebay. i bid on one the other night, but luckily was outbid and didn’t get it…
i say ‘luckily’ because today i saw the light. the tapwave zodiac is available for pre-order, and it rocks! the specs are very impressive for a relatively inexpensive device. Palm OS 5.2, 3.8" hi-res screen, bluetooth, 2 SD slots, 200mhz processor, PLUS a ATI 8mb graphics chip.

the games look sweet, even though i’m not a huge gamer. it’s also a full-fledged PalmOS device, and runs all Palm apps. there’s a built-in mp3 player and video player. and a nice big fat screen. i got my unit on order - can’t wait!
