um, Tiesto was off the hook last night!! it was my second time at Mezzanine, and i gotta say the sound system there lives up to the hype. the first time was with T&R when we accidentally went on gay night…but stayed and danced cuz the music was so tight! it’s an interesting experience dancing amongst hundreds of shirtless, sweaty gay guys…we found a nice roomy area to avoid any “accidental” gyrational contact. anyways, i wasn’t a huge fan of Tiesto before last night, but i’m now officially converted. the evening got off to a rough start, downing RBVs at Club Six as fast as humanly possible during a 2 hour open bar, but i sobered up enough to get my groove on. cynthia & christina were my partners in crime:

friendster is eating my brain! i can’t stop profile-surfing through people i don’t know, and their friends, and their friends…will you be my friend?
that kickboxing thing…
it’s been almost a year now that J-boy and i have been going to Fairtex Combat Sports Camp for kickboxing. in his words, “it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to us” (you’d think that statement would be used to refer to two women, but alas, no). it’s a down & dirty “real” kickboxing gym taught by thai professional fighters (muay thai is the thai national sport). the equipment is ragged, the pads stink to high hell, and ya can’t understand a word the instructors are saying…but it’s great, really! it builds confidence knowing that i can at least open a medium-sized can of Whoop Ass, if needed…not that i ever plan to be in a fight, but if a terrorist ever hijacks MY flight, i’ll at least get in a swift kick to their butts.
it was voted “Best Place to Learn How to Kick Ass” in SFWeekly’s “Best of San Francisco 2003″:
“Martial arts masters are taught to seek alternatives to physical violence whenever possible. But if all attempts at peaceful resolution fail, sometimes they find it necessary to open a can of whupass on somebody — and that’s where Fairtex Combat Sports Camp comes in. The school is more than a gym: It’s a training ground for the art of Muay Thai (more commonly known as Thai boxing), as well as Brazilian jiu jitsu and boxing. World champion kickboxer Alex Gong opened the school in 1996, and since then Fairtex has become one of the few Muay Thai facilities in the United States to be officially recognized by Thailand’s government. Several of the school’s trainers just happen to be internationally known professional competitors. Kickboxing, as it’s taught at Fairtex, will certainly get you in shape, but most students are looking for more than just ripped abs and buns of steel: The school’s philosophy encourages the cultivation of discipline, self-respect, and resilience. Of course, we think it can’t hurt to know you can dole out a beat-down if need be.”
this is Enn Fairtex (holding the pads), one of our instructors. he’s not very big, but he’ll kick ur ass in a heartbeat!

well wasn’t that special…
so i biked through Golden Gate Park to Ocean Beach today, thinkin that it’s nice out, and i really ought to go to the beach more often since it’s right there. it was really sunny, warm and nice out in the park…but the beach was another story. cold, windy, and overcast. as i biked along it, wind blowing in my face, sand pelting my skin, i couldn’t help but think “this sucks” (a common phrase in my inner monologue). so i promptly turned around and fled back into the park.
i’m at my new favorite cafe now, the canvas art gallery/cafe on 9th & lincoln. good food, comfy couches, free wireless internet, and there’s always about 10 people using laptops so i don’t stand out as such a nerd-boy.
here’s a video of cats doing funny things. =) (windows media, 2.8mb)
um, i should probably write stuff in here, huh? well, the job search is officially on. the cover letter and resume are updated, and i’m looking in SF, LA, and a bit in NYC. come 6/30, i’m outta the loft and spending most of July in LA and NYC. after that, the plan gets kinda hazy…
go see “finding nemo”! it totally rocks, dude…
